Qatar philharmonic orchestra announces exciting new season
The Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra
(QPO) has announced an exciting new season, opening on September 4 at the Qatar
National Convention Centre (QNCC) under the baton of Maestro Elias Grandy. The
evening will spotlight the music of Robert Schumann, featuring the Genoveva
Overture, the Piano Concerto in A minor performed by acclaimed pianist Zee Zee,
and the powerful Symphony No. 2 in C major.
On September 11, QPO presents Spanish
Impressions, blending rhythmic vitality and cultural color. The concert will
include Friedrich Gulda’s Concerto for Cello and Wind Orchestra, performed by
QPO’s Hassan Moataz El Mulla, alongside Manuel de Falla’s Three-Cornered Hat
Suites and Rimsky-Korsakov’s Capriccio Espagnol.

As part of Qatar Museums’ Years of
Culture with Argentina and Chile, QPO will host A Musical Encounter: Sounds of
Qatar and Argentina on September 14, offering audiences a free-registration
concert that highlights cross-cultural collaboration.
The orchestra will also give a preview
concert in Doha ahead of its performance at the world-renowned Teatro Colón in
Buenos Aires on September 17, conducted by Argentine maestro Enrique Diemecke,
celebrating the musical ties between Qatar and Latin America.
Closing September, on the 27th, QPO
will commemorate the bicentenary of Uruguay’s independence under Maestro Marcus
Bosch, with soprano Sofia Mara joining in a programme featuring Rodriguez’s La
Cumparsita, Verdi’s La Forza del Destino, Puccini’s Madama Butterfly, Gardel’s
tango classic Volver, and more.
