Four venues confirmed in Qatar for 2027 Basketball World Cup
The Local Organizing Committee (LOC)
for the FIBA Basketball World Cup Qatar 2027 has officially approved four
venues to host the tournament: Lusail Multipurpose Hall, Duhail Sports Hall,
Ali Bin Hamad Al Attiyah Arena, and Al Janoub Stadium.
For the event, the venues will be
renamed as Lusail Arena, Duhail Arena, Al Attiyah Arena, and Al Janoub Arena to
ensure consistency in branding.
In a historic first for the
Basketball World Cup, matches will also be staged inside a FIFA World Cup
stadium. Al Janoub Stadium, originally a football venue, will be transformed
into a basketball arena with seating for over 8,000 spectators—underscoring
Qatar’s commitment to sustainability and sports legacy.

Mohammed Saad Al Meghaiseeb,
Director-General of FIBA Basketball World Cup Qatar 2027, President of the
Qatar Basketball Federation, and Member of the FIBA Foundation, emphasized
Qatar’s ambition:
“Two years ago, Qatar won the bid to
host the 2027 World Cup. It is both an honor and a responsibility to deliver
the best edition in history, while continuing our country’s legacy of
organizing world-class sporting events. Three venues are already ready, and Al
Janoub Arena will stand as one of the most distinguished projects in
basketball’s history. Our goal is to leave a lasting legacy for the game in
Qatar and across the MENA region.”
To mark the “2 Years to Go”
milestone, FIBA—together with the LOC—has launched a fan registration platform
for early ticketing updates and tournament news.
Qatar will welcome basketball fans
from around the world in August 2027, promising an unforgettable experience
both on and off the court.
