Qatar to host 11th Katara Festival for Arabic Novel

The late Saudi diplomat, novelist, and poet Ghazi Al Gosaibi will be celebrated as the festival’s Personality of the Year
 

Qatar to award prizes in various categories of novels  

The Cultural Village Foundation (Katara) has announced that the 11th Katara Festival for Arabic Novel will take place from October 13 to 19, offering a rich program of cultural and literary events.

Saudi Arabia has been selected as the guest of honor for this year’s edition, while the late Saudi diplomat, novelist, and poet Ghazi Al Gosaibi will be celebrated as the festival’s Personality of the Year. An exhibition will be dedicated to his life, career, and literary legacy.

Khalid Abdulrahim Al Sayed, General Supervisor of the Katara Prize for Arabic Novel, confirmed that the award ceremony will be held on October 13 at the Katara Opera House. Prizes will be presented in six categories: published novels, unpublished novels, young adult novels, unpublished historical novels, critical studies, and Qatari novels.

The festival will also host the third edition of the Katara Book Fair, bringing together 100 Qatari and Arab publishing houses showcasing their latest works, with a strong focus on novels and literary criticism.

Additional highlights include book signings for the winning works of the 10th edition—some translated into English and French—as well as panel discussions, workshops, and the launch of notable new releases from Katara Publishing House and other publishers.
