In a move to strengthen cardiac healthcare in Yemen, Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS), in partnership with Qatar Charity, has supplied an advanced EPIQ CVx echocardiography (ECG) machine to the Cardiovascular Centre in Taiz. The $61,146 machine aims to enhance diagnostic services and improve patient care.

The state-of-the-art ECG system combines high-quality 3D imaging with artificial intelligence (AI) technologies, allowing for faster, more precise assessments of cardiac function and overall improvement in ECG applications.

Dr. Abu Zarr Al-Gendi, director of the centre and professor of cardiac surgery and kidney transplantation, expressed gratitude, saying:
"On behalf of the centre and Yemen, I sincerely thank QRCS and Qatar Charity for their efforts in rehabilitating the centre and providing cutting-edge medical equipment. This allows us to perform cardiac surgeries at the highest international standards."

As a national centre of excellence, the Cardiovascular Centre serves much of Yemen, specializing in open-heart surgery, endoscopy, and kidney transplantation. Dr. Al-Gendi highlighted that it is the only facility in Yemen performing minimally invasive cardiac surgeries, a technique that speeds patient recovery while reflecting the pinnacle of medical advancement.

Dr. Sidqi Al-Qubati, consultant cardiologist and head of the Catheterisation Department, called the new ECG machine a strategic asset, enabling advanced diagnostic techniques for accurate pre- and intraoperative assessment, ensuring timely and precise medical interventions while improving overall healthcare quality.

Abdullah Ibrahim Al-Nuaimi, head of Qatar Charity’s office in Yemen, said:

"Providing a state-of-the-art ultrasound machine for the Cardiovascular Centre is part of our commitment to supporting Yemen’s health sector and equipping medical facilities with modern diagnostic tools. This collaboration with QRCS exemplifies humanitarian partnerships aimed at upgrading public health services."

Eng. Ahmed Hassan Al-Sharaji, head of QRCS’s Yemen office, added that the initiative is part of ongoing efforts to enhance healthcare access, enabling patients to receive advanced treatment locally rather than traveling abroad.

The project marks the final phase of a broader $1.14 million initiative supporting the Cardiovascular Centre. Previously, an Azurion 3 F15 cardiac catheterisation machine was delivered, and nearly two years ago, the cardiac catheterisation department was inaugurated.
