Qatar's mediation efforts in Gaza being acknowledged worldwide
United Nations Secretary-General Antonio
Guterres has expressed deep appreciation for Qatar’s vital mediation efforts
aimed at ending the ongoing conflict in the Gaza Strip.
In a press statement, Guterres
welcomed the announcement by Hamas expressing readiness to release hostages and
engage in negotiations based on the latest proposal put forward by U.S.
President Donald Trump. He urged all parties to seize this opportunity to halt
the bloodshed, calling once again for an immediate and lasting ceasefire, the unconditional
release of all hostages, and unrestricted humanitarian access to Gaza.

Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni also commended Qatar and other Arab nations for their active role in brokering peace. In a post on X, she noted that the U.S. peace plan—approved by Israel and supported by European and Islamic states as well as the Palestinian Authority—had received an initial positive response from Hamas, which signaled willingness to release hostages within a ceasefire framework.
Meloni emphasized the urgency of
collective international action, stating, “We must all commit ourselves to
ensuring that this extraordinary opportunity is seized.”
