Editor-in-Chief of The Peninsula Qatar Dr. Khalid Al-Shafi in a special piece has hailed the forward-looking approach of Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani to realize the goals of Qatar National Vision 2030.

In his address at the opening of the first ordinary session of the second legislative term of the Shura Council, Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani  outlined a forward-looking vision rooted in stability, dialogue, and sustainable growth. His Highness reaffirmed Qatar’s steadfast commitment to achieving the goals of Qatar National Vision 2030 through balanced economic management, diversified development, and a foreign policy centred on humanity and cooperation — principles that continue to elevate Qatar’s standing on the global stage.

At the national level, the Amir commended the Shura Council for its effective legislative role and active engagement in regional and international parliamentary forums. He also highlighted Qatar’s economic resilience amid global uncertainty, noting the country’s 2.4% growth in 2024 and a further 1.9% rise in the second quarter of 2025. This performance, His Highness said, reflects prudent fiscal management, responsible resource allocation, and the strength of non-hydrocarbon sectors driving sustainable progress.

Underscoring continued national investment in education, infrastructure, and renewable energy, His Highness pointed to the launch of major solar energy projects in Ras Laffan and Mesaieed. He stressed that Qatar’s true wealth lies in its people — urging sustained investment in education, training, and innovation to empower future generations. His Highness also emphasised the importance of family values and responsible citizenship as the foundation of Qatar’s social fabric and national advancement.

The Amir praised the private sector’s expanding contribution to economic diversification, announcing new programmes to enhance competitiveness, attract investment, and ensure fiscal sustainability — achievements reflected in the significant reduction of public debt since 2021.

On regional and international fronts, His Highness reiterated Qatar’s unwavering belief in diplomacy and peaceful conflict resolution, highlighting Doha’s mediation efforts in multiple conflict zones across the Middle East. He reaffirmed Qatar’s principled humanitarian approach and noted that the nation’s measured response to recent violations of its sovereignty strengthened its global reputation, earning widespread respect and recognition of its active diplomatic role.

Reaffirming Qatar’s firm and consistent support for Palestine, the Amir condemned the crimes committed by the Israeli occupation in Gaza, describing the situation as genocide. He called on the international community to take decisive action to ensure justice, accountability, and protection for the Palestinian people, while stressing Qatar’s ongoing diplomatic efforts to secure a ceasefire, facilitate humanitarian aid, and achieve full international recognition of the State of Palestine.

His Highness’s address encapsulated a comprehensive national vision grounded in economic resilience, social cohesion, and continuous development, while upholding the country’s enduring achievements. It also reaffirmed Qatar’s commitment to a foreign policy defined by peace, dialogue, and sustainable progress — principles that continue to strengthen its role as a trusted global partner in promoting stability and human dignity.
