Qatar Museums and Al Jazeera Documentary Channel to strengthen media collaboration

Qatar Museums (QM) has signed a five-year strategic partnership agreement with Al Jazeera Documentary Channel, a member of the Al Jazeera Media Network, aimed at strengthening cultural and media collaboration.

The agreement was signed on Monday by Mohammed Saad Al Rumaihi, CEO of Qatar Museums, and Ahmed Mahfouz, Director of Al Jazeera Documentary Channel.

This partnership marks a significant step in enhancing cooperation between two of Qatar’s leading institutions in the fields of culture and media. It will focus on the production, exchange, and presentation of documentary films, particularly those aligned with QM’s flagship Years of Culture initiative.

Speaking at the signing, Al Rumaihi said the agreement supports QM’s mission to broaden access to cultural experiences through media.

"Key components of the partnership include content sharing between both institutions and allowing Al Jazeera-produced documentaries to be screened in QM exhibition halls," he noted.

"This initiative enriches the cultural experience for our visitors and reinforces the shared role of media and culture in serving society."

Al Rumaihi emphasized QM’s longstanding belief in the synergy between culture and documentary storytelling, calling the partnership an opportunity to foster innovation, inclusivity, and national identity through compelling visual content.

Ahmed Mahfouz, Director of Al Jazeera Documentary Channel, echoed this sentiment, describing the partnership as a reflection of the shared vision between both institutions.

"We are united in our mission to champion global human culture by supporting and showcasing local, Arab, and Islamic cultural narratives," he said.

Mahfouz added that one of the major outcomes of the agreement will be the screening of films from Al Jazeera Documentary Channel’s extensive archive at Qatar Museums venues. These will include documentaries on general culture, visual and fine arts, as well as co-produced films tied to the Years of Culture programme.
