Doha airport witnesses record number of passengers in August
Hamad International Airport (HIA) in
Doha welcomed over 5 million passengers in August, marking the busiest month in
its history, the airport’s operator announced Sunday.
The record figure reflects a 6.4%
increase compared with August 2024. Point-to-point traffic reached 1.3 million
travelers, up 12% year-on-year, underscoring rising demand for direct services
to and from Qatar.

Officials credited the growth to
expanded airline capacity and stronger global partnerships. Qatar Airways
boosted frequencies on more than 15 routes, while several international
carriers either launched new flights to Doha or upgraded capacity.
The milestone comes weeks after
Airports Council International ranked HIA the world’s 10th busiest
international airport for 2024, further cementing its role as a major global
aviation hub.
