Qatari TV show highlights innovations of young scientists 

The 17th season of Qatar Foundation’s Stars of Science is spotlighting visionary young innovators who are harnessing artificial intelligence (AI) to transform global healthcare and technology.

This year’s contestants are presenting groundbreaking inventions — from wearable diagnostic devices to predictive surgical tools — that embody a forward-thinking, preventive approach to medicine.

Jordanian innovator Khaldoun Megdady has introduced a 3D coronary artery simulation platform that enables cardiac surgeons to plan and rehearse operations in advance, helping minimize uncertainty and reduce surgical risks.

From Algeria, Ryad Haji Habib is exploring the use of scorpion venom peptides to simulate immune responses in treatments, improving the safety and effectiveness of therapeutic interventions. His compatriot, Laid Dardabou, has created a wearable vitamin D monitoring device that tracks deficiency levels in real time — a potentially life-changing tool for more than a billion people affected worldwide.

Other innovations this season extend beyond healthcare: Mohamed Alshaikh Saleh has designed an AI-driven system for electric vehicle battery monitoring that predicts malfunctions before they occur; Razan Salem Bahabri is developing a gamified neurorehabilitation tool to enhance recovery outcomes; and Mohamed Kahna is advancing augmented reality technology to assist surgeons with real-time decision-making during complex procedures.

Since its debut in 2009, Stars of Science has aired over 313 episodes, supported 175 alumni from 18 Arab nations, and helped launch more than 55 startups across diverse sectors. Backed by Qatar Foundation and Qatar Science & Technology Park, the initiative continues to empower Arab innovators to build a healthier, more intelligent, and sustainable future.
