Doha Film Festival showcases participating films in ‘Made in Qatar’ program
The Doha
Film Festival (DFF) has announced the lineup for its much-anticipated ‘Made in Qatar’ program, celebrating
homegrown creativity and storytelling from the nation’s rising filmmakers.
Presented by the Doha Film Institute
(DFI), the showcase underscores the Institute’s steadfast commitment to
fostering Qatar’s creative community and amplifying authentic voices that
reflect the nation’s evolving cultural identity.
Featuring 10 short films by Qatari and Qatar-based filmmakers, Made
in Qatar highlights the diversity, imagination, and emotional depth that define
the country’s contemporary cinematic landscape. The programme serves as a
launchpad for local storytellers whose works are gaining international
recognition, offering fresh, human-centered perspectives on life in Qatar.

“Supporting local filmmakers is not only a duty—it is a privilege
and a source of great pride for the Institute,” said Fatma Hassan Al Remaihi,
Festival Director and CEO of DFI. “Our storytellers open windows to our world,
share our culture, and connect audiences to our narratives. Through Made in
Qatar, we celebrate the creativity and courage of filmmakers who are shaping
our cinematic identity and building a cultural legacy that extends beyond our
borders.”
Reflecting the continued growth of Qatar’s film ecosystem, this
year’s Made in Qatar selection includes projects supported through DFI’s training
initiatives, Grants Programme, and the Qatari Film Fund.
The 2025 ‘Made in Qatar’ Jury is chaired by actress, director, and
producer Afef Ben Mahmoud, joined by Fahad Al Kuwari, Head of Development at
Katara Studios, and Alaa Alasad, producer and distributor. Together, they will
honor a new generation of Qatari filmmaking talent.
The selected films for Made in Qatar 2025 include:

- Baba is Melting (Qatar) – Karim Emara
- Fahad the Furious (Qatar) – Justin Kramer
- Is This a Sign (Qatar) – Maria Joseph
- Project Aisha (Qatar) – Fahad Al Nahdi
- Qadha’ w Qadar (Qatar) – Maryam Al Mohammed
- A Palm Branch (Qatar) – Mahdi Al Ali
- Theatre of Dreams (Qatar) – Fatma Al Ghanim
- Yom El Juma’ (Qatar) – Haya Al Kuwari
- Villa 187 (Sudan/Qatar) – Eiman Mirghani
Running from 20–28 November 2025, the Doha Film Festival marks a
bold new chapter in DFI’s mission to nurture regional talent and champion
authentic, socially resonant storytelling.

Key festival partners include Katara, Media City Qatar | Film
Committee, and Visit Qatar. Iconic venues across Doha—including Katara Cultural
Village, Msheireb Downtown Doha, and the Museum of Islamic Art—will be
transformed into dynamic cultural hubs, bringing together filmmakers,
audiences, and industry leaders from around the world.
Designed to celebrate the diversity, ambition, and creative spirit
of the region, DFF 2025 will feature a rich programme of films, panels, and
events that reaffirm cinema’s power to inspire, unite, and deepen our shared
understanding.
